UCLA Football: Grading The Bruins’ Defense Vs. Utah

2 of 3

Linebackers: C+

The linebackers weren’t spectacular against the Utes on Saturday, but nothing awful came out of their performance.

The unit didn’t accumulate any sacks against elusive frosh Travis Wilson despite getting in the backfield more than once. The pressure — when defensive coordinator Lou Spanos brought it –was enough to make Wilson uncomfortable and scramble nearly a dozen times, but not enough to bring the 6’6” QB down.

In coverage, the linebackers did OK. Once again, their performance in that regard wasn’t great, but they did what they was supposed to, not allowing big plays either on the ground or through the air.

It was a ho-hum performance for the Bruin linebackers, which is OK by us.
