The linebackers had a hard time keeping up with California’s wide-outs when they were forced to play coverage and they were also offset the same way the defensive line was when they were attempting to get into the Berkeley backfield.
They played hard, though, and you can’t fault them for that. You can fault them for not covering the short routes like some were supposed to, though, and that’s part of why the defense crumbled against California.
A “C-plus” here isn’t the worst grade, and it’s about average. The linebackers struggled but overall, they weren’t the reason that UCLA allowed Cal to score nearly 50 points.
