In case you didn’t know, UCLA basketball recruit Xavier Rathan-Mayes is one of the most sought-after recruits for the 2013 class.
For good reason, too. The dude is an absolute stud of a 2-guard, thanks to his versatility and ability to put up points in bunches because of his perimeter scoring skills. We wrote a bit about Rathan-Mayes back in June, so for a full scouting report, we suggest you visit that discussion.
This is important because the 4-star shooting guard will release his top five list of prospective schools via Twitter today (Friday) at 6 p.m.

Very cool, in our opinion.
Of course, many would be shocked if UCLA was not on that list come 6 p.m., along with Kentucky and Florida State. That’s what Tyler Adkins of the Kentucky Sports Report is saying, at least:
@bigbadbenyo UK and Florida State will be on it. Not sure on the others— Tyler Adkins (@tyleradkinsKSR1) August 24, 2012

You have to like UCLA’s chances here, even if this team is stacked at the 2 (or is filled with combo guards and tweeners who are too short to play the 2 but whose style doesn’t fit the point, ala Zach LaVine).
Mayes is a solid prospect though, and he’ll definitely help solidify the 2013 recruiting class.
Hopefully the dude makes the right decision and chooses UCLA.
GO BRUINS!!!
