Report: Tony Parker will commit to UCLA, probably

With speculation running rampant about one of the last few, elite recruits left in the 2012 class, it seems as if Tony Parker might have already made a decision.

Our friends at Bruins Ball are reporting that Parker plans to commit to UCLA:

"Some of our sources very close to the situation have notified BruinsBall.com that as of now, Tony Parker is planning to commit to UCLA. We have also heard that an announcement will come fairly soon. With (Shabazz) Muhammad, (Kyle) Anderson, and (Jordan) Adams already on board, Parker’s commitment will solidify UCLA’s monster class, one that fans have been dreaming about for a while now.Muhammad, Anderson, and Parker will be playing in the Jordan Brand Classic tonight on ESPN at 4 PM PT, so make sure to tune in and watch them."

Interesting stuff, and very, very awesome if everything turns out to be correct. (Bruins Ball does not mess around.) “Monster class” is a total understatement because the class will include two top-five recruits and two top-40 recruits, easily trumping what UCLA did back in 2008 when it nabbed Jrue Holiday, Jerime Anderson, Malcolm Lee and Drew Gordon. Of course, that class never really lived up to the hype and officially flamed out as Jerime Anderson was the last Bruin standing from a brutal four years.

This time, things might be a little different, considering Shabazz was considered the top prospect in the nation and one who could turn a program around by himself, while Kyle Anderson might be the distributor (he’s 6’7”, mind you) that UCLA has desperately needed. Add in another scoring threat in Adams and an additional big body in Tony Parker, and those four alone might consist of a new core by themselves, even with Josh Smith in the mix.

We’ll find out in time, but for now, all signs point to Parker living in Westwood this fall.

GO BRUINS!!!
