UCLA Football: Bruins thought NFL Pro Day went well

UCLA closed its NFL Pro Day to the public, but from what our departing Bruins are saying, things went well:

(H/T: The Mighty Bruins)

Everyone seemed super positive about the way NFL Pro Day went, and that’s what we expect. These guys may be leaving, but we sure as hell hope they get drafted, and drafted high.

Of course, the big story here is that UCLA closed its NFL Pro Day, and while this is old news, I’m still bitter about it. What it says is that UCLA players are, perhaps, a little afraid of scrutiny. Little character things like that are red flags for NFL scouts. (I’m sure if you forgot to clean your mustache of the bread crumbs from this morning’s strudel, NFL scouts are writing that down, too.)

Regardless, we’re happy to hear that Pro Day was all nice and dandy, even if no one got to see it. By the way these guys are talking, they’ve definitely inherited Rick Neuheisel’s “relentlessly positive” philosophy.

Currently, DraftSite.com doesn’t have any Bruins projected to get picked up in the draft, which is a damn shame. You’d figure a bruiser like Derrick Coleman or a smart player like Tony Dye would be projected to go somewhere in the draft, but apparently, that ain’t happening.

The good thing with football is that undrafted free agents have a good amount of success in the NFL. Not as much as draftees, mind you, but it isn’t totally impossible to blow some faces away while on a team’s practice squad. This isn’t basketball, where undrafted players that play well are heralded as saviors and are a symbol of hard work, because it tends to happen in the NFL.

Regardless, we’ll be praying that the scouts love them, because we sure as hell did.

GO BRUINS!!!
