UCLA Bruins combine for 38 points, 12 rebounds in 2012 NBA All-Star Game

UCLA Bruins Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook played in their second consecutive NBA All-Star Game this year. Last year, Love and Westbrook combined for a 14 points off of 15 shots. Both were extremely limited in the amount of time played.

This time around, both got significantly more time as All-Star reserves, with Westbrook logging 27 minutes (vs. 14 last year) and Love racking up 18 minutes (compared to 11 last year). The results were better, too, with Love (17) and Westbrook (21) combining for 38 points off of 29 shots. Futhermore, we got this little nugget from Russell Westbrook, who had quite possibly the stupidest funny celebration ever off of a dunk:

Well, OK, man. I am not sure what to make of that little hand-waving thing, but the important thing is, Westbrook got the dunk.

Overall, not a bad All Star weekend for our Bruins. Kevin Love not only contributed a good amount in the game, but he also took home the Three Point Shooting Contest:

Nice, dude.

Anyway, I’ve got about 100 words to burn before I can close this thing out — no joke, guys, gotta get 250 because Big Brother says so.

It’s good to know some Bruins are out there bolstering franchises and playing legitimate lead roles in the NBA. Kevin Love is arguably the best player in Minnesota since Kevin Garnett jammed to win a ring in Boston, while Russell Westbrook is at the head of the Oklahoma City Thunder dynasty, playing as well as you can ask your point-guard-convert-from-two-guard to play.

Had it not been for Kevin Durant’s incredible 36-point performance, Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook would have made UCLA the highest scoring school in this year’s All Star Game. But Love and Westbrook had 38, you say. Sure, they did, but because LaMarcus Aldridge also went to Texas — that jerk — and put up a measly four points, UCLA missed out.

Oh well. Next time. GO BRUINS!!!
