Bruin Football Notes

According to news sources:

There’s good news and bad news for UCLA’s secondary; Cornerback Sheldon Prince, out since the Oregon State win with a sprained knee, is practicing this week at Spaulding Field, the Bruins’ practice facility, and is likely to play against Arizona this Thursday.

Safety Tony Dye – not so much as the inflammed nerve in his neck, which has caused severe neck pain and has kept him out for nearly a month, has not improved enough to clear him for the Wildcats as of right now.

Dye has a redshirt season available and could use it. “It’s a cumbersome issue because he’s desperate to play,” said coach Rick Neuheisel. “I just want what’s best for him.”

Offensive lineman Albert Cid and wide recievers Nelson Rosario and Shaquelle Evans have, like Price, returned to practice.

Transfer Brandon Willis, a defensive tackle who came to UCLA from North Carolina, was denied a request by the NCAA to become eligible right away. He’s forced to sit out this year and is eligible for the three following seasons.

The starting time for the Bruins’ Homecoming game vs. California at the Rose Bowl has been set; kickoff will be at 4:00 p.m. and the game will be televised by Prime Ticket.

There will be a Homecoming fair on the UCLA campus the night before the October 28th match with the Golden Bears. It starts at 7:00 p.m., Admission is free and all are welcome; more details will follow.
